From Douala to Paris, from soccer to the runway, Patrice“ Patou” Manga had made elegance his signature and turned himself into the embodiment of an African fashion that defied boundaries.
There was something about Patou Manga that clothing alone could not fully explain. Even before looking at the cut of a jacket, the length of a pair of pants, or the detail of a scarf, one noticed his presence.
Dark sunglasses, tailored outfits, impeccable shoes, the air of an urban dandy: Patou didn’ t just talk about fashion— he wore it like a second skin.
In the 2010s, as African designers and those from the diaspora began to make their presence felt more strongly on international runways, this Cameroonian living in France carved out a unique niche for himself.
