Towards a future of healing and empowerment: integrating global and local realities.
Replacing the legacy of the long-term trauma of slavery with the rejection of the backlash against newly re-emerging right-wing ideologies, coupled with the contempt and hypocrisy of the left, requires coupling psychological healing with political and economic empowerment. In the West, this strategy calls for greater sensitivity to historical trauma, increased mental health intervention culturally adapted to African-American issues, and social recognition of structural racism( 2020). Academic frameworks such as PTSS and grassroots mobilization offer fertile prisms for reshaping the narrative and building resilience from cultural strength rather than pathology( 2020).
At the same time, Chinese and Russian realignments with African nations offer prospects for reasserting sovereignty and pursuing models of sustainable development that are less vulnerable to Western geopolitics( 2020). These types of agreements, combined with intra-African collaboration and continental integration efforts, can potentially ensure economic diversification, enhanced security and political stability( K. Moskalenko et al., 2024). For the African diaspora, these trends herald new international exposure and influence in redressing historical marginality.
