The few people who control wealth often learn to control laws. When they control laws, they control lives.” This editorial is a kind of explanatory note to last month’ s editorial on the new lords of the world, namely the technological elite. We also felt it was important to highlight how the power of the people is being eroded by so-called democratic regimes.
Why does authoritarianism always seem to replace democracy by using the tools of democracy itself to destroy it? Since imagery is the most effective way to convey messages in the digital age, we thought
it would be more appealing to write a fictionalized version of our editorial this month, using a narrative that can compete with the flood of images on social media. It is important to remain relevant in a stylish way.
