They can control schools and museums, but they cannot control living memory. As long as we tell the story, history survives.
Act V: 2040— The Land of the White Shadow Complete erasure
Flashmag! Issue 167 December 2025
Fifteen years after the project began, America no longer recognized itself. Official history had become a white, smooth, uncontradicted narrative. The contributions of minorities had been reduced to footnotes— technically present, but invisible. But the erasure did not stop there. It had built a complete architecture: First pillar: Cultural demonization. Black American culture— which had given the world jazz, blues, and hip-hop— was now presented as“ savagery” and a“ glorification of violence.” The irony was cruel: for decades, the white establishment in the music industry had specifically encouraged and financed the most violent aspects of this culture. Record labels had formatted gangsta rap as a commercial product, transforming the suffering of the ghettos into entertainment. Now, that same establishment was using these images— which it had created— as proof of the“ incivility” of Black culture. Second pillar:“ Ungrateful” athletes. Great Black athletes were subjected to a venomous narrative: they had been given fortunes, and what had they done? They had squandered their money on“ frivolities” and had“ done nothing for their communities.” The foundations they had created, the scholarships they had funded, and the programs they had supported were conveniently forgotten. LeBron James’ schools, Michael Jordan’ s initiatives, and countless community investments were ignored. The message was simple:“ We gave them everything, and they wasted it all.” Third pillar: Intellectual theft. Black scientists and researchers faced a system designed to erase them. Grants became impossible to obtain. Discoveries were“ reassigned.”
