American supremacy in sports is often seen as a reflection of the country ’ s wider global influence . The USA is seen as a leader not only in athletic prowess , but also in technological innovation , economic power and cultural production . However , this dominance can also breed resentment and contribute to international tensions . The perception that the USA operates by its own rules , whether in sport or in international relations , can lead to conflict and a sense of injustice among other nations . American interference in the suspension of third countries such as Russia , lawsuits brought against the leaders of international organizations such as FIFA on the basis of American laws remind those familiar with human history of ancient Rome ’ s interference on various societies , with the crucifixion of Christ under Roman laws in a colonized country being the most famous example that many seem to ignore . The 2024 Olympics were marked by a setback for some Third World nations , who often showed the American giant that they existed . Just as Jesse Owens ’ triumphs at the 1936 Olympics challenged the narrative of Aryan supremacy , the rise of other nations in world sports will always challenge the narrative of American dominance . When countries like China , Brazil , Kenya or Cameroon or Jamaica excel in international competitions , it highlights the global nature of talent and success . This diversity of excellence can contribute to a more balanced perception of global power , where many nations are recognized for their achievements . This should help change the narrative for a peaceful , multipolar world .
