Priscilla Wolmer : We have established 54 STATES as an independent and influential voice , offering in-depth coverage of African dynamics , while highlighting subjects often absent from the major international media . Our approach is based on a differentiating editorial strategy : we give a voice to the continent ’ s key players - be they political leaders , visionary entrepreneurs or committed young people - in order to offer an alternative narrative that is authentic and rooted in local realities . By rebalancing information , we challenge dominant narratives and bring a more nuanced and inclusive perspective . Over the years , we have expanded our audience and our impact . From a print medium with a newsstand circulation of 20,000 , we have become a leading digital medium , with 15,000 subscribers and an even wider and more diverse audience . This transition has enabled us to optimize our accessibility , strengthen interaction with our readers and accelerate our international growth . Our reputation is built on our editorial rigor and our commitment to fair and pluralist information . Today , 54 ÉTATS has established itself as a key player in the media landscape , in the service of a better representation of African issues on the world stage .
Flashmag : What do you see as the key challenges to improving communication on African and Caribbean issues on the international stage ?
Priscilla Wolmer : The major challenges to better communication of African and Caribbean issues on the international stage are multiple and complex . Stereotypes and prejudice : Traditional and international media have often conveyed a monolithic and distorted image of Africa and the Caribbean , associating these regions with poverty , war or corruption . This perception remains entrenched , preventing a true understanding of the complex dynamics of these regions .
