It reinforced my conviction that it was imperative to break down existing barriers between these regions , to bring to light stories that are too often ignored , and to contribute to a better representation of African realities on the international stage .
Flashmag : What have been the main inspirations guiding your career so far ?

Priscilla Wolmer : I ’ m of Guadeloupean origin , and Guadeloupe , this French archipelago in the heart of the Caribbean , has a history marked by colonization , slavery and migration . The slave trade tore millions of Africans from their homeland , enslaving them and forcing them to build , survive and resist . But this history is not just a distant legacy : it lives on in me , shaping my outlook , my values and my voice . This indelible link between Africa and the Americas , between heritage and emancipation , is the foundation of my career . It nourishes my vision , guides my choices and gives meaning to my commitments . Behind my French citizenship lies something deeper , more visceral : my Creolité . A blend of influences , a cultural and spiritual richness that accompanies me at all times . It ’ s this plural identity , this living memory , that inspires me and gives direction to everything I do .
Flashmag : What challenges have you faced as a woman in the world of media and communications ?
Priscilla Wolmer : Being a woman in the world of media and communications means facing a series of challenges , often linked to gender and racial stereotypes . In a sector where most decisions are taken by men from the elite , I had to fight to be heard and respected . My place was never taken for granted ; I had to confront prejudices linked to my dual identity , both as a woman and as a West Indian . I still remember a certain Dominique Calace de Fer Luc telling me : “ Journalism is a serious business . As if my identity challenged my legitimacy . Such remarks illustrate one of the first barriers I had to break down : proving my legitimacy in a world where diversity was not yet a priority .
