THE WAR WITHOUT A NAME:

How, since 1945, the United States has been waging a global war not against“ enemies of democracy,” but against an idea: socialism. And why countries in the Global South would do well to remember this.

Munich, February 14, 2026. In the Olympiastadion, transformed into a diplomatic forum, Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, delivers what may go down as one of the most revealing speeches of the decade. He speaks of civilization. He speaks of decline. He speaks of reconquest. He depicts decolonization as a tragedy, accelerated by“ atheistic communist revolutions” and anti-colonialist uprisings which, in a tone very reminiscent of the Cold War, he says have spread“ the red hammer and sickle across vast swathes of the map.”

The room applauded.
Some analysts paused. Because what Rubio had just said was not insignificant: for the head of diplomacy of the world’ s leading power, decolonization— the movement through which dozens of Asian, African, and Latin American peoples broke their chains in the 20th century— was not liberation. It was a communist conspiracy. Fourteen days later, bombs were falling on Tehran.
