Each act of disconnection thus becomes a prayer for liberation. Their weapons are not highly sophisticated technological guns, but tactics of disconnection: offering screen-free spaces where people can learn to think without filters, creating open protocols for communicating off the radar, and diverting currencies and infrastructure to self-finance clandestine schools.
The War of the Flows
The coming war will have neither front lines nor flags. It will be a war of networks and narratives.
Flashmag! Issue 166November 2025
This war, which is already here, is taking the form of a hybrid confrontation, a war of networks and narratives. On one side, the state oligarchy deploys armies of legal bots and bureaucratic drones: automated laws that lock feedback loops, micro-targeted disinformation campaigns to fragment solidarity, and predictive systems that anticipate and neutralize hotbeds of revolt. On the other, the rebellion refines strategies of erosion: hackers who reinject compassion data into algorithms to corrupt their models, cultural guerrillas who reactivate collective rituals and songs to reconstitute a common memory, physical networks of supply and education that make the community resilient to digital cuts. The battles are being fought on several fronts simultaneously— data centers are fortresses, but public squares and supply lines are their weak points. As in an apocalyptic epic, the resistance knows that destroying a server is not enough; it is necessary to reclaim the imagination, recreate gestures of trust, and learn to share attention outside of commercial logic. Millennials and Gen Z, driven by the urgency to protect their children, become the protagonists of this saga. Some, disillusioned, give in to the temptation to adapt— accepting secure comfort in exchange for a little freedom taken away each day— and end up living like decorative extras in networked worlds designed to neutralize all dissent.
