History moves forward masked, but it often dances the same steps to the same music. Life is an eternal restart, as some say, but what’ s most obvious is that what some thought was a thing of the past always comes back under a different name, dressed up in modernity, or rather the zeitgeist. Empires fall, kingdoms change their faces, but power relationships reappear, sometimes in suits and ties, and increasingly in lines of code. Welcome to this brave new world, where modern feudalism drapes itself in the seductive garments of technological progress in an unprecedented cybernetic despotism.
Albert Camus said,“ The history of human society is the history of men’ s struggle for power, and their inability to use it without abusing it.” While life on Earth now seems to be defined by the virtual, the real being only the fulfillment of what is defined in a virtual cloud, which sells the dream as reality, at least as far as the Western world and its satellites on a larger or smaller scale depending on the index of development are concerned; a handful of feudal lords have since taken absolute power over human life, which is essentially connected to technology, have become slot machines for the super-rich.
