As we passed the bus driver , he told us that the limousine was outside . Prince must be there ; that ' s where you ' re playing tomorrow , and my brother and I said , " Come on , let ' s go ; drop our bags at the hotel and get going ." So , we drop our stu o at the hotel and come back to the club in the evening . We want to go back . The guys see us , my brother and me , and they say , " But no , but where are these guys going ?" We had pink glasses , fluorescent pants , gloved hands , and all that , the guys tell us . That doesn ' t fit in here . Then we tell them we ' re playing with Manu Dibango ' s band tomorrow . So , they say , Ah , you ' re Manu Dibango ' s band ? In . So we went in . It was playing , jamming loudly . Then we asked them to play a bit too , so they gave us a hand , and we went up on stage . We started playing and jamming ; they liked that . It lasted . At one point , Prince was at the bar like this with a bunch of people . He was having a drink and heard how we were playing . He asked to jam with us and started jamming too . Afterwards , he told his sta to take our phone numbers . We couldn ' t even talk to him .
We thought , my brother and I , well , he ' ll call us . We were happy . But he never called , and we went back to Paris . As time went by , we forgot about it . But after 10 years , he called me back ; luckily , I still had the same phone number . We didn ' t even have cell phones back then , so they called me back to ask me to do a replacement job like that in Monaco , and that ' s how it started . But I must point out that I ' m not Prince ' s drummer . Prince has a drummer . I played with Prince . It ' s not the same thing . But I ' m proud to have done it .

It makes me laugh because Pierre Gabriel is quite a funny story ; because it ' s he himself who calls himself Pierre Gabriel , because it ' s he himself who said that : he speaks French well , Pierre Gabriel ; he ' s Peter Gabriel in fact .
