The maxim of our Washington Post colleagues is : " Democracy dies in obscurity ". However , when democracy has become the allegory of obscurantism , navigating in the darkness of the hushed salons of the lobbies and pressure groups that finance it and control its decisions , can we still speak of democracy ? Worse still , the gentrification of the political class , which in a democracy should serve the interests of the people , has become an incongruity .
Leaders who have never experienced the challenges that their less a uent fellow citizens face every day , are unable to understand and provide adequate answers to the dramas of the little people they often observe with contempt and casualness . is editorial is not written from scratch , as there are many examples of the notorious condescension of leaders .
