Shola Adisa-Farrar

Shola Adisa-Farrar was born in Oakland in California a thriving city that has often made the headline in manifestation against injustice. She was raised in a family of artist and intellectual, her parent who are Jamaican and black American are writer and university professor. her lyrics are greatly influenced by creativity and social awareness. Shola while in New York as a teenager attended school, earning a bachelor degree in music. She is a talented artist who exalts introversion, realizing a perfect blend between several genres, she’s not shy to share through music her life experiences. Moving to France in 2011 has been a compelling experience, growing artistically, she has made her way to the stage meeting accomplished artist like the jazz Pianist Florian Pellisier. Her first opus Lost Myself produced by hot Casa, was released in April 2016 and reached the number one spot the first week as the top selling jazz album on iTunes France.

This album positively reviewed by art critics has the flavor of her Jamaican origins combined with the soul and jazz influences from her upbringing and maturation. Shola Adisa-Farrar is our top flash this month in the lines that fallow she tell us more about her career and life.

Shola: Hello thanks for having me today.

We won’t lose any minute before getting in the aim of the topic so what brought you to music?

Shola it was something I wanted to do since I was 8-year-old. I remember when I spoke people use to tell me I have a raspy voice, I had always expected myself to be in acting or singing. And this logic simply followed in my choice.

At what time in your life you really though it was the way? you did have any doubt?

I had my first acting job when I was 8. in my mind this was what I wanted do anyway, acting singing… I didn’t have any other expectation. But of course, growing I had some doubts and worries like everybody does

How Graduating from school of music in New York affected the rest of your career?

I graduated from Fordham university and I majored in music. When I was in New York I had a first-rate knowledge about recording companies and the industry, doing internship in all those big names. Before I liked music from the outside point of view but when I got to know the behind the scene I was a bit undermined… but it gave me huge experience because I’m now more aware of what going on really. What I learned in school helped better manage my career while being on the field in my years in New York helped to grasp the reality of the business of music.
