Lynnsha: very good question. For my part, I will take an example, Aya Nakamura who for me makes Afro Caribbean music that I would say urban. In fact, Afro Caribbean music has evolved. And at the level of the French urban scene many sounds are Afro-Caribbean. Now if we talk about Zouk it is true that at one time there was the Kassav generation, and then mine Medhi Custos, Fanny J and many others at one point ... it is true that At the current level in France, the music that seems to be listened to, more, is the urban Afro-Caribbean. Yes, I hope other artists more Zouk or RnB will be on top. In fact, I find it difficult to classify myself because for me I am a singer above all. Well, it's true that the problem is also our relationship to our community. It's true that we would be much more visible if we were better supported by our community. There is an industry problem because there are people who call themselves managers, or producers, and are not. There is a lack of financial means, because it must be said music does not sell as before. We need communication because it is very important, we need medias. There is a barrier at the level of medias which often does not promote Afro-Caribbean music. With the media barrier, audiences don't even have time to listen to your music. Even though there are platforms that make it possible to perform, the mainstream channels continue to have a big influence in the spread of music.
For the younger generation if you are passionate and hardworking and want a career, yes of course go for it. Even if nowadays some can do a Buzz without having talent. But you should know that now music is accessible to everyone, whether listening, or creating, anyone can go to the studio to make a sound, release a clip and put it on YouTube, and it can work. The music industry has totally changed. Yes of course if it's a passion, get started, but you have to know that there will be a lot of competition, and you will have to be persevering, hardworking, and lucky.
On the beauty side, you are also a reference so logically my collaborators, at FLASHMAG! have asked me to ask you the question: What is the secret to your lasting youth? That smile that never leaves you, or something else?
Lynnsha: Secret of Youth? there is none I only eat junk food… no I'm kidding… laughs… the smile that never leaves me; that's nice. I always try to smile no matter what. Life slaps us, but it's important for me not to suffer. It's important for me to decide my mood, that's why I always wear a smile, but sometimes I'm sad on the inside, but just smiling on the outside makes me smile on the inside after.
Yeah like all women I'm very much into beauty, and I get to work with partners. It is important to take care of yourself, to do good to yourself. Hit the gym and have a healthy diet ...
If it is true that the current health crisis has forced a slowdown in artistic activity can we have any idea about the new major dates for Lynnsha? Is there a new collaboration coming, a new album or a concert?
Lynnsha: Dates in concert with the current crisis, there won't be until mid-August as several events have been canceled. But during the confinement period I was very active. You know I have always liked food; before I produced cooking shows. I recently started doing it on my YouTube channel. You can subscribe to "Cook Facon Lynnsh " but very soon this show will be on tv by the fall. Also, since October 2019 I have created my clothing fashion line called FF Mode. “Femme forte mode” strong girl mode, strong woman mode, is whatever you want. I made the first collections, but COVID has turned everything upside down. So, there will be another launch in September, but some accessories are already available in the Pop Shop in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, on the Instagram page En mode FF, in Martinique at Fashion Queen. FF Mode DNA says 'I don’t follow the trend - I'm the trend' I decide my mood I engage in FF Mode which is self-acceptance.
The last word to all your fans and Flashmag readers!
Lynnsha: All Flashmag readers! I give you a very strong hug. Take care of you. The Covid made us understand that we cannot control anything. It taught us to put things into perspective, to have resilience and also to review our priorities. We must not forget this moment when we were united. Knowing that together we are stronger. To all my girls, sorority is important. Let us be united, inspiring motivating. Let’s be examples and take care of ourselves. And see you soon for new adventures. Don't forget to follow me on social media. XOXO
Lynnsha Flashmag! and its readership, thank you for this cordial and open interview.
